At the beginning of the eighties, after passing his exams in aircraft engineering at the Southampton University summa cum laude,  Adrian Newey, O.B.E. joined the Formula One team of Wilson and Emerson Fittipaldi, at that time based in British Reading. After that he went to  MARCH Engineering at at Bicester, first for their Formula 2 and Indy Car programmes followed by design work for the Grand Prix team. Later, now under the name of Leyton House,  Newey was appointed technical director of a Formula One for the first time. The Illmor V10 powered cars in their typical bright turquoise livery of their Japanese parent company were driven by Ivan Capelli and Maurizio Gugelmin. In 1990 Adrian Newey, born on 26th December 1958 at Stratford-upon-Avon, entered Williams Grand Prix Engineering, in 1997 he joined McLaren International. Since 2006 Newey is technical director at Red Bull Racing, the Milton Keynes based company  created out of the former Jaguar Racing team he was pretty near to switch to under the direction of Niki Lauda a few years before. Adrian Newey worked together with the world champions Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and Sebastian Vettel to win 8 drivers`and 7 constructors`world titles and over 100 Grandes Prix. In contrast to the majority of the modern motorsport designers Newey has not given up working at the drawing board not exclusively relying on CAD. Newey also is an excellent racing driver himself competing in sportscar racing current and historic with a Jaguar E Type, a Ford GT40 or a Ferrari F430. The Red Bull Renault RB8 of 2012  is Newey`s third Grand Prix car winning the drivers`and the constructors`worldchampionship in a row. Triple world champion Sebastian Vettel gives female names to his cars; Kinky Kylie and Luscious Liz are followed by Abbey in 2012.
